Rhinoplasty in Cancun
Cosmetic and functional surgery of the nose
Rhinoplasty is a specialized surgical procedure that reshapes the bone and cartilage of the nose to improve its appearance, restore function, or both. Whether addressing cosmetic concerns, breathing difficulties, or structural issues from injury or birth defects, rhinoplasty can create harmonious, natural-looking results.
As one of the most intricate procedures in facial plastic surgery, rhinoplasty requires exceptional precision and expertise. Even minor adjustments to nasal structures can significantly impact facial balance, breathing function, and overall aesthetic harmony.
Rhinoplasty can offer both aesthetic and functional benefits, among them:
- Improved facial harmony
- Correction of nasal asymmetries
- More balanced facial profile
- Definition of nasal tip
- Dorsal hump correction
- Improved nasal breathing
- Increased personal confidence
Each benefit depends on proper medical evaluation and individualized surgical planning.

Advanced techniques in nasal surgery
Rhinoplasty can be classified in different ways, depending on both the surgical technique used and the medical and aesthetic goals of the procedure. Understanding these differences allows the patient to have a clearer view of the procedure and the options available.
Open vs. Closed Rhinoplasty
This classification is based on the way surgical incisions are made.
Anesthesia and Safety: The procedure is performed under general anesthesia or deep sedation in accredited surgical facilities, guaranteeing total control of the patient's vital parameters during the intervention.
Functional rhinoplasty vs. cosmetic rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty can also be classified according to the main objective of the procedure.
Primary rhinoplasty vs. secondary rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty can also be classified according to the main objective of the procedure.
Clinical consideration: Because in secondary rhinoplasty the structures have already been modified and scar tissue is present, it is considerably more complex. Therefore, it is imperative that it be performed by surgical teams with extensive experience in reconstructive surgery and cartilage preservation.

Are you a candidate for nose surgery?
You may benefit from this procedure if you have:
Age is also an important factor. It is generally recommended that rhinoplasty be performed once facial growth is complete, which is usually around 14-15 years of age in women and slightly later in men.
Preoperative evaluation
A detailed medical analysis makes it possible to define the appropriate technique and to plan the procedure in a personalized and precise manner.
Prior to scheduling a rhinoplasty, a complete medical evaluation is performed, including:
Medical history
Medical history, previous surgeries, respiratory problems, current medications and possible coagulation disorders are reviewed.
2. Physical examination
Facial proportions, nasal bone and cartilage structure, skin thickness and nasal septum condition are analyzed.
3. Clinical photographs
Photographs are taken from different angles to plan the surgery, analyze proportions and document the pre- and postoperative process.
4. Patient expectations
An open and honest conversation is essential to set realistic goals and define which changes are possible and which are not.

Actual results of Rhinoplasty surgeries
Before and after of real patients treated at CPSC. Images documented under medical criteria, advanced techniques and professional follow-up, with focus on safety, body proportion and natural results.
Types of Rhinoplasty Scars
All surgery leaves a mark, but at CPSC we design low, strategic incisions that are hidden under under undergarments. With time and proper care, scars fade significantly.
Scars
high

They form when there is excessive collagen production during healing. They remain above the level of the surrounding skin but usually flatten over time.
Scars
hypertrophic

Thick, raised and often reddish in the first few months. Unlike keloids, they remain within the edges of the original incision and improve significantly over time.
Scars
keloids

Result from excessive scarring that extends beyond the wound area. They have a strong genetic component and require special attention during recovery.
Scars
widened

These scars are usually flat and smooth to the touch, but appear stretched or wider than desired. This usually occurs when there is too much tension on the skin during the closure or healing process.
Scars
Hyper /
Hypopigmented

This refers to scars that heal with a different tone than your natural skin tone. They can be hyperpigmented (darker than the surrounding skin) or hypopigmented (lighter or whiter).
Healing varies from patient to patient and depends on skin type and aftercare. At CPSC, we provide close follow-up and specific recommendations to achieve the best possible result. Specialized treatments are available to help make scars less visible. In addition, sun protection during the first year is key. In breast augmentation, healing is usually quick and uncomfortable; incisions usually close in little more than a week.
Rhinoplasty Recovery Schedule
Recovery after rhinoplasty is a progressive process. At Cancun Plastic Surgery Center, medical follow-up is done in stages to ensure a safe, controlled recovery and optimal functional and aesthetic results in the medium and long term.
Week 1 (Days 7-10)
It is normal to present swelling, nasal congestion, tenderness and mild discomfort Relative rest is indicated, elevated head, use of nasal splint, prescribed medication, avoidance of physical exertion Initial medical follow-up evaluates early evolution and adequate healing.
Weeks 2-4
Incisions continue to heal and the patient resumes light daily activities, avoiding intense exercise and direct blows to the operated nose.
Weeks 4-6
The nasal contour begins to define itself more clearly. Sensitivity gradually decreases and most patients resume their normal routine with greater comfort. Healing progresses in a controlled manner under medical supervision.
Months 2-3
Residual swelling continues to subside and tissues adapt to their new structure. Breathing is usually completely normalized. Moderate exercise can be started only with medical authorization, favoring a progressive functional recovery.
Months 3-6
The results become more evident, especially in the nasal dorsum. Sensitivity usually normalizes and most patients perform their usual activities without limitations. Internal healing continues to progress gradually.
6 months - 1 year
The nose achieves a more stable, natural and harmonious appearance. The nasal tip continues to refine progressively. Periodic medical follow-up allows to evaluate the consolidation of the aesthetic and functional results.
After 1 year
The results of rhinoplasty are considered definitive The nasal structure is completely stabilized and internal scars have matured Periodic medical check-ups and healthy habits preserve aesthetic and functional benefits obtained in a long-lasting manner
Frequently Asked Questions about Rhinoplasty
Clear answers on safety, recovery and candidacy for your facelift
Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that modifies the shape, size and structure of the nose. It can be performed for aesthetic or functional purposes or both, improving facial harmony and, in many cases, nasal breathing.
When properly planned, rhinoplasty does not adversely affect breathing. In fact, in many cases it is combined with correction of the nasal septum or other internal alterations to improve airflow and respiratory function.
Initial recovery usually lasts between 7 and 10 days, during which time splints are removed and visible swelling decreases. Residual swelling may persist for several months, and the final result is usually seen within 9 to 12 months.
In most cases, the incisions are made inside the nose or in inconspicuous areas, so there are no obvious external scars. When the open technique is used, the scar on the columella is usually minimal and inconspicuous.
The results of rhinoplasty are long lasting. However, the nose continues to age naturally over time. In rare cases, revision surgery may be necessary for additional adjustments.
To avoid deformities in the healing nasal bones, sunglasses or frame glasses should not be placed on the bridge of the nose for at least 4 to 6 weeks. If it is necessary to wear them, they should be taped to the forehead. Also, sun exposure should be strictly avoided for the first few months and sunscreen SPF 50+ should always be used, as the sun can cause permanent dark pigmentation of the still swollen skin.
Although the change in structure is visible immediately after removal of the splint (approximately 7-10 days), the healing process is lengthy. Most of the swelling subsides in the first 3 months, but the nasal tip may retain residual microscopic swelling for longer. The final result and definitive definition of the tissues is usually achieved one year after surgery.
